Rocky Mountain Rail Society's objective is to preserve, refurbish, maintain and operate heritage railway equipment. Our primary focus is steam locomotive 6060 known as the "Spirit of Alberta" which was given to us by the government of Alberta following the 75th anniversary celebrations for the province. Our mandate from the province was to maintain and operate 6060 for the people of Alberta. We aslo own on operating Alco S1 diesel switcher. Other rolling stock includes a snowplow, speeder, coaches etc.. We also work closely with other heritage railway organizations and museums to maintain a consistent efffort with both provincial and federal levels of government as they affect heritage railway group
