In 2015, EMUC became part of a refugee sponsorship program, which is a collaborative effort within three United Churches working under the umbrella of the United Church of Canada. The purpose of the collaborative is to carry out a private refugee sponsorship where this collaborative would be completely responsible for the needs of the refugee family for the first 12 months after arrival in Canada. This program continued to operate through 2016.
