The Society's main purpose is support and encouragement of patients before and after heart surgery by Society volunteers who have personally undergone heart related surgery. Related activities include: (a) operation of the Victoria Heart House, a bed and breakfast establishment for accommodation of spouses and families of heart patients during their hospitalization; (b) financial support director toward: - purchase of specialized hospital equipment for cardiac patient care in area hospitals; - assistance with extended education costs and educational materials for hospital staff involved in cardiac patient care; and - emergency financial assistance to needy heart surgery patients and their families, particularly children.
