Over the recent fiscal year, CHHA undertook several new projects and activities to advance the rights and accessibility for hard of hearing Canadians: 1. The "Spotlight on Invisible Disabilities" conducted a national survey via a series of webinars and in-person consultations to collect data and form recommendations to the Federal government for proposed accessibility legislation. 2. The CHHA National Executive Director attended the 5th meeting of the Inter-Agency and Expert Group - Social Development Goal Indicators (IAEG-SDG) hosted by Statistic Canada on behalf of the United Nations Statistics Division, March 30-31, 2017 in Ottawa. 3. The Broadcast Accessibility Fund (BAF) Project is a new initiative that will see the development of several resources for CHHA's Chapters and Branches, people living with hearing loss and for the general public that include the development of resources to provide information on broadcasting accessibility to hard of hearing Canadians. 4. CHHA was also a key stakeholder that participated on the Media Access Canada (MAC) panel at the CRTC hearing to review television licences. MAC's objective is to ensure broadcasting and telecommunications are completely accessible by 2020 to all Canadians with disabilities.
