Curatorial: Curatorial activities are core museum activities. Our mission is to preserve, restore and interpret artifacts of historical significance related to the railways and industrial development in Central British Columbia. The curatorial program is integral to this project as it is responsible for acquiring, documenting, database updating, researching, maintaining and restoring our collection. The community benefits through the preservation of our industrial heritage. It is through the lessons of the past we see into the future. On a practical note, it is through working on our artifacts and in the archives researchers and students learn about the roots of our community by handling the pieces of our past. Education: Our community was built on industry. Forest and transportation industries continue to fuel our economy. What better way to educate our children about our future than to show them our past. After seeing our collection of early chain saws (over 20 two person monsters and a model of the world's first one person chain saw) and local technological developments (we have a number of pre patent examples including an ATV developed in Prince George for the use in the forest industry) our children can better understand our local newspapers headlines about work safety or layoffs. The Museum has huge potential as a fun and valuable learning tool for educators.
