SISA assists and serves newcomers to Medicine Hat, Alberta to access resources, services and opportunities within our community as they address their settlement needs. Settlement services include: receiving and welcoming new arrivals at the airport, arranging for temporary shelter, search for permanent accommodations, obtain necessary documentation, forms and assistance in completion of the same, introduction and familiarization of local school systems with assistance in school registration, busing and after school care. introduction to adult learners in improving their skills and confidence in the English language. Connect clients with volunteer Canadians to assist them in building a social network and additional skills. Various programs aimed at assisting newcomers to adapt to a new life in Canada.eg: computer cclasses, parenting classes, financial management (budgeting) classes. SISA also identified a need for newcomers who are unable to attend day time language courses due to their occupational arrangements. As of this current year, SISA offers evening Language instruction Course, which helps newcomers have a more flexible schedule while adapting to their new home.
