Services Provided by Heron Rocks Friendship Centre Society
1. Land stewardship: Ongoing maintenance of the Heron Rocks grounds, buildings and orchards with an emphasis on conservation and community use. 2. Programming: Twice yearly newsletter; an outdoor summer speaker series and a winter series on economic, social and environmental topics of significance to the community. 3. Youth Programs to support students pursuing leadership development and post-secondary education 4. Water Stewardship: Coordinates an Island-wide well-testing program, coordinated a rain barrel (water conservation) program; offer workshops and speakers on water conservation; maintain an experimental ditch-water quality enhancement site; keeps a library of water-related books and documents. 5. Maintains and develops a peace Garden, a tranquil area for public enjoyment 6. maintains and enhances 3 orchards on property and use property for education about food production 7. Maintains 2 residences on property which are rented to low income earners.
