The Canadian AIDS Society is a national coalition of over 80 member groups who work together and individually to provide services and programs to people living with HIV/AIDS and people at risk for contracting HIV/AIDS. Ongoing support and services offered by the Canadian AIDS Society to its members and the public in general include: ? Board/Governance: Our board is made up of representatives from across Canada, the majority (7/13) of which are positions specifically for people living with HIV. The board meets regularly, both by teleconference and face to face to provide strategic direction for the organization and hosts the annual meeting and People Living with HIV/AIDS Forum every year. ? Communication: We have an active social media presence, combined with traditional media, where we remain responsive to emerging issues and tough topics such as criminalization of HIV transmission and GLBTQ rights. In addition to these external methods, we have a members only newsletter, which is distributed via email every 6 weeks. We are also making ourselves known through the presentation of information at Pride festivals across Canada. ? Government Relations: Working closely with the federal government, we maintain non-partisan relationships with all federal parties, seeking to influence policy and services to ensure the needs of people living with and at risk for contracting HIV/AIDS are met. ?
