The charity is primarily a grant making organization which supports heritage initiative in Waterloo Region. Its primary purpose is to preserve and financially assist in the preservation of heritage landmarks, historical building and other projects of historical significance to the Region of Waterloo. The Waterloo Regional Heritage Foundation (WRHF) awards three types of grants: (i) Capital and Property Grants; (ii) Project/Event/Research Grants; and (iii) Publication Grants. During the fiscal period, the WRHF made grants to a number of individuals and organizations to assist with the funding of projects related to the preservation of local history and heritage with Waterloo Region.
