A special function was held in July to commemorate Swami Vivekananda's first landing in Vancouver in 1893 to attend the 'Parliament of Religion in Chicago' Invited guest was the Swami in charge of Chicago Vedanta Center. About 75 guests were present and enjoyed lecture,music and a sumptuous dinner during the function. Next day there was a day-retreat with meditation,scripture class,devotional songs and lunch. Three Swamis of Ramakrishna Order conducted a special retreat in Sechelt,BCRetreatants came from all over North American and attended the 5-day retreat. There were serious scriptural classes,lectures,devotional songs and meditations and chantings. We also had worships of Sri Ramakrishna and the Holy Mother Sri Sarada Deviwhere members and other interested people participated. All had a sumptuousdinner afterwards. The Society celebrated the 'Christmas function' with lecture from an invited Ramkrishna Order Swami,Christmas Carols and dinner.
