The mandate of the DTRC is to help dancers make necessary transitions into, within and from professional performing careers. To this end, the DTRC: 1. Creates awareness of the breadth and scope of career possibilities though individual consultation and group workshops 2. Supports professional development at all career stages, including grants for transferable skills 3. Provides the resources-counselling (academic, career, financial, personal and legal), grants for career retraining and subsistence while in full-time studies, and general information - for transition 4. Creates awareness of dancer transition issues for the general public and works in collaboration with other bodies to find practical solutions to address these issues The DTRC also operates as a resource centre for the dance community and general public and supports activities that improve the socioeconomic conditions of artists across the country.
