We conduct two subsidized yoga classes each week for special needs and disabled students. We grant yoga class discounts for university and high school students. We grant yoga class and workshop bursaries for low income individuals. We provide scholarships and discounts to yoga students at a teacher level, to assist them in achieving higher levels of skill through certification, traveling to other institutes abroad, and studying with Iyengar instructors elsewhere. We subsidize yoga classes taught by novice teachers, as a means of providing the teaching experience required for their certification by the national institute. (Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada) We operate approximately 20% of our classes at a loss in order to provide the appropriate teacher-student ratio in classes for youth, disabled individuals, pregnant women and the elderly.
