The Dance Centre continued to provide innovative programs and projects throughout this fiscal year. The Society continued to provide programs engaging and informing the public on developments in the art of dance and featuring world class artists (The Global Dance Connections Series and the Discover Dance Series). The biennial event Dance in Vancouver brought together over 150 dance professionals from across Canada and generated in an effort to expand opportunities for BC dance artists. A new program and partnership was initiated in 2016 - featuring 3 dance artists as part of an ongoing series Beyond Words produced by the Chan Centre. The Society partnered with several arts and other organizations across Metro Vancouver to optimize access to high quality dance experiences to as broad a public as possible. The Society initiated a new program Power of Dance which offered a series of free workshops specifically designed for immigrant and refugee youth and facilitated by acknowledged dance artists, working with immigrant services societies operating in Metro Vancouver.
