The Canadian Red Cross is the leading humanitarian organization through which Canadians voluntarily demonstrate their care and compassion for others. Working closely with communities in Canada and around the world, we understand that pre-existing vulnerabilities can lead to increased needs following an emergency. The Canadian Red Cross works to address these gaps through longer term preparedness, recovery and health programming leading to increased resiliency in the face of the next emergency. Activities may include first aid training, psycho-social support, basic health services, recovering lost livelihoods or emergency preparedness activities. We work closely with local governments, partners and other humanitarian actors to identify gaps in services ensuring we can rapidly mobilize to help provide what is most needed to who needs it the most.
