Provide tertiary healthcare services to the people of Manitoba, Northwestern Ontario, and parts of Saskatchewan. Provide internship and practicum opportunities for training students in a teaching hospital environment. Conducts medical research and development with a research mandate in three primary areas: basic and applied cardiovascular sciences, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy, and degenerative disorders associated with aging (senile dementias, Alzheimers's disease, strokes, etc.) Conducts clinical research including basic research, academic research, investigator-driven, and industry-sponsored research.
