As part of its regular performances, in 2016 the Guild marked the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Toronto Mandolin Orchestra, an integral part of the Ensemble. Included in the program of celebrations was a banquet followed by a concert reflecting the finest from its 60 year repertoire. Tamara Volskaya, domra viruoso and Merited Artist of Russia now resident in Brooklyn, N.Y., was once again guest artist on this occasion. To record the significance of 60 years of diversity of this unique orchestra, a special fund raising campaign was successfully conducted making possible the filming and production of a documentary of the orchestra. The filming was done at the time of the 60th Anniversary concert and the film is now in its editing stage. WE hope the film, once completed, may be accepted by some local film festivals and/or media. To mark the 150th Birthday of Canada, a finale representing the three founding nations-Indigenous, French-Canadian and English-Will be created and performed at the the Ensemble's concert in April 2017. It will include an Indigenous performer, a French-Canadian dance and Canadian songs and music.
