Grants were given to: 1) Education (Girls' schools, universities; 2) Churches and related programs; 3) Social services (homeless shelters, violence prevention); 4) Arts (theatre, fine arts); 5) Public policy on education or national and international women's rights; 6) Peace, environment, women and development; 7) Canadian women's history, constitutional equality; 8) Health (including organizations that address specific diseases and reproductive choices). Women's History Project: The Foundation runs section 15.ca (formerly coolwomen.ca), a history of women in Canada website for a general and high school audience. Archives Project: The Foundation has undertaken research to locate fonds of post-WWII women held in public archives in Canada, to increase awareness of, the existence of, and finding aids for, these fonds, and to encourage more women to place their records in the public archives of their choice. The Foundation is also conducting oral interviews which it is depositing in the public archives. Road to 2017 Commemorations Project: Canada will celebrate the 150th anniversary of its founding in 2017 and the Government has identified key events to mark. In the current year, the Foundation took steps to make a unique book, designed for school use, on what Canadian women did in WWI fully accessible on the internet, and the Foundation prepared a detailed list of key achievements by women in Canada 1867 to date.
