Mariners' House of Montreal primarily aids and assists seafarers temporarily in the City of Montreal and surrounding vicinity to provide a place of repose for seafarers and to provide for their spiritual, moral and social welfare. However, our facilities are also available to retired and veteran seamen. We provide a place on the Montreal Waterfront for seamen's leisure time, offering recreational facilities(T.V., videos, books and magazines, pool andping pong tables, free coffee) as well as transportation to and from ships, including the occasional sightseeing tour. The centre sells refreshments, toiletries and souvenirs and provides facilities for long-distance telephone calls, Internet, mailing of letters, sending money home to families all over the world and currency exchange. Many items such as clothes, food, jigsaw puzzles and books are donated to us, which we, in turn, donate to the seafarers. Upon request, we put seamen in contact with union representatives, medical practitioners or ministers of various religious denominations.
