The Guelph Hiking Trail Club is governed and managed by volunteers of the Club with no paid staff or facilities. The Club maintains approximately 80 km of hiking trails for use by the general public and develops extensions and side trails as opportunities arise, with the permission of the public and private landowners. The Club promotes hiking as a healthy physical activity and encourages conservation and appreciation of the environment and heritage. The Club produces and sells local trail guidebooks at a nominal cost and produces newsletters, public displays, print media and a website to provide information on area trails. The Club networks with and coordinates events with other organizations and community groups that have mandates and members in common with the Club.
