The Foundation works towards the achievement of an environmentally sustainable Windor-Essex-Pelee region through natural capital and cultural heritage conservation, restoration and protection. The Foundation achieves its mission through educating area residents and stakeholders with respect to the importance of natural areas protection and restoration, trail development, local biodiversity and cultural heritage. The Foundation granted in excess of $773,000 to the Essex Region Conservation Authority to carry out programs and activities, consistent with the Foundation's mission, including significant support for trail construction in 2016 ($526,000). Other major grants were to support wetland construction, tree planting, student education and heritage property restoration.
