The Society manages & maintains the Denman Activity Centre which serves as a community facility for recreation, economic activities & social events. The building includes a gymnasium & fitness centre which are used by all age groups for table tennis, badminton, picketball, fitness classes, yoga, tai chi, dance classes & other instructor-led rec. activities. An activity room is used for weekly social gatherings such as poker, bridge, scrabble, a writers' group & a church group. The facilities also provides a venue for public meetings, social events, fundraising events, a mobile dental services, local economic development office, voting place, and annual events; flu shot clinic, Christmas craft fair, writers' festival, table tennis tournament, summer music and local food celebration, & other festival events as needed. The building also houses a small museum, run by volunteers. The Society collaborates with other organizations to provide community events such as Halloween & Easter events for children & families, Remembrance Day ceremony, & a subsidized seniors' lunch program. The Society receives no operational funding & is reliant on volunteer efforts & fundraising initiatives. 6 working board members & 8 museum volunteers along with many other community volunteers contribute thousands of hours of volunteer efforts over the year to provide building management, maintenance & improvements, museum curating & staffing, coordination of recreational & fundraising activities.
