Having as it primary goal the provision of public information, the CDA Institute seeks to address the many facets of Canadian security and defence. The CDA Institute is an independent organization with its own set of objectives. Conducting research and analysis into defence needs and priorities; stimulating discussion and debate on Canadian structure and policy; promoting knowledge, respect and understanding of Canadian military history; contributing to a better understanding of national security and defence through public information services. The CDA institute organized and conducted the "Ottawa Conference on Defence and Security" held in conjunction with the CDA AGM in Ottawa in February 2016 and published the proceedings on its websiite. In addition, the CDA Institute held the 25 Vimy Award ceremony at the Canadian War Museum in November 2015, and the 17th Graduate Student Symposium at RMCC in Kingston in October 2015. The CDA Institute also conducted other research projects and held round table events on security and defence issues.
