During 2016, the CCCA announced an exciting and new cultural initiative with the Centre's first Elder in Residence. The Cultural Sharing program introduced The Teachings of the Sacred Cedar Tree, which included making a bracelet, headband and having a Cedar Tree Ceremony on the Squamish Territory with an Elder. This program also took part in a number of individual outings which included, Sage picking in the Lillooet Squamish Valley. The Learning Centres recognized their Volunteer Steve Lytton as he was awarded the Governor General's Award for Volunteer Service. The Carnegie Library Program hosted a number of Author readings including Stella Harvey and Norman Nowrocki. The Volunteer Program organized a Food Safe Level 1 Workshop in 2016 which was well attended. Oppenheimer Park launched a Tech Cafe one a week workshop to discuss Social Median and Mobile Apps.
